One of the things that I have learned in my 22 years is that you cannot wait for a man to do somethng for you; you must do it for yourself, or it'll never happen. This is how I came up with the idea to take my best friend on the date that I wish my boy person (not a boyfriend, not just a friend) had taken me on. I understand that everyone's circumstances are different, but IMO, you best friend will be there forever. Your current boy? Maybe not. So, if you're planning all these elaborate dates with a boy but not your best friend? What are you doing??
Step 1.
Transform the back of you car into a cozy movie watching spot. I put down all the seats and then put this tri-fold memory foam mattress that I already had down so that we had something comfy for our butts. Then, add many pillows to fill in all the spaces and a blanket to stay warm. I also added a dog bed so that my dog had a comfy place to sit, as he will be joining us.
Step 2.
Download a plethora of movies that you and your best friend would like to watch. For me, I chose Twilight and Harry Potter. I already owned those from a while ago on Apple TV, but you can also download a movie to watch without internet from Netflix. Take into account what you both like or something that's meaningful to the both of you.
Additionally, my car has an outlet that can plug in a normal plug, but you can always buy a generator or car adapter for your computer plug. Also, don't forget to bring something to prop up your laptop, so it isn't just sitting below eye level.
Step 3.
Acquire yummy snacks. I chose pizza and candy, but I could also see sushi, takeout Olive Garden, or a fast food type place being fun as well. This step really can depend on your budget/what kind of effort you want to spend.
Step 4.
Pick a nice place to drive, preferably somewhere with good stargazing prospects. For us, we are going to a small park in my neighborhood. Safety of your locations is also something to consider, especially when being outdoors at night. I also brought along my safety whistle and, as always, had my pepper spray in the car.
Step 5.
Have so much fun! In my experience, I remember the times with my friends the most. Dates with boys are good (especially when referring to the 20 year old boys), but dates with friends are the best.
