Tylei and her dog, Harley, enjoying a day in Colonial Williamsburg

About Me

Hello! My name is Tylei, and I am currently a senior at W&M studying Chinese, Anthropology, and Entrepreneurship. But, more importantly, I have a 1.5 year old dog named Harley! He's a Cavapoo and has been my quarantine buddy.
To start at the beginning, I was adopted when I was 2 months old from Vietnam. From there, I have lived in MA, RI, IL, and now currently VA. Being a transnational adoptee is one of the important aspects of who I am, so I am creating a club called Transnational Adoptee Outreach (TAO) with some other adoptees. For a long time, I didn't address the complexities in my own identity until I started taking Anthropology classes and realized that I actually wanted to acknowledge the Asian side of who I am, even if I grew up in predominantly white communities. So, this is a topic I would like to address at some point in my blog.
Another passion of mine is cooking (and eating)! I see all these posts on various social media platforms about how you just want the recipes and don't want to read the whole backstory of your life. Well, too bad. I want to be like Ree Drummond. I am a notorious yo-yo dieter, so don't be surprised at the range of recipes you see. I think making food for someone is incredibly special and, depending on the situation, becomes sort of a spiritual experience. The intentions that go into making a meal, I think, are those extra "something's" that go into a dish.
To go with my cooking, I also enjoy spending my time craftine and decorating. Of course, this depends on the seasons. You may notice a spike in crafting activity around the holidays (any holiday). For one, I feel as if in today's world, I find it difficult to "single-task". So, I think it's better to watch shows and paint a painting rather than watch TV and scroll on my phone.
Anyway, this is me in a nutshell! I am sure the purpose of this blog will evolve as I evolve in my own life, but lifestyle blogging hits on all of the notes. Crafting and cooking various recipes make me happy, and I hope that they can make you happy too. I know big changes are coming, and I can't wait to share things that make me happy with y'all!
